Academic Enrichment & Intervention Methods

Our interactive classes, taught by a master educator, support reading with evidenced-based curriculum (Orton-Gillingham) and innovation interventions (Summerbell). They have intrinsic social/emotional goals and executive functioning skills. These are integrated into a curriculum that is offered in a creative and structured environment that meets students where they are and support their learning needs while helping them feel fully supported by the ArtsMatter learning community.

Orton-Gillingham

The Orton-Gillingham Approach is focused on the needs of the individual student. It is a direct, explicit, multisensory, structured, sequential, diagnostic, and prescriptive way to teach literacy when reading, writing, and spelling does not come easily to individuals, such as those with dyslexia.

Summerbell

Summerbell is a reading intervention method that transforms words, sentences, and paragraphs to make them simple and easy to read. It aims to remove the struggle and distraction of linear text. Our founder, Michelle Michlik believes in this method and even sits on the educational board of Summerbell for reading!
